In July 2015 I went to a 10 day vipassana meditation retreat. I had never done vipassana meditation before, and I had never sat on the floor with my legs crossed longer than 20 minutes without pain. During the retreat we had to sit from 4:30am until about 9pm (with breaks, of course). And each day these words came to my head. Sometimes they described my experience during the sitting. Sometimes they were just my thoughts after listening to the teachings. And sometimes they were words that I created to encourage myself to stay in the course despite my emotional and physical pain (because painful memories do come out when you do nothing but sit in silence all day). On the path to tame my (somewhat unhappy) monkey mind, I found these words. So I decided to create this blog to write them down.  This blog also contains stuff I wrote after the retreat.
